STUTTGART, Germany, July 19 (UPI) -- Unseeded Jeremy Chardy of France rallied Sunday to win the Mercedes Cup in Germany, his first title on the ATP Tour.

Chardy dropped the opening set to Romanian Victor Hanescu, the No. 4 seed, but came back for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory in a match that lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes.

The Frenchman holds a 2-1 lifetime edge over Hanescu, who was seeking his second title on the tour.
