ST. LOUIS, July 18 (UPI) -- Dan Haren went eight innings and drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk Saturday to help the Arizona Diamondbacks beat St. Louis 4-2.

Haren (10-5), a former Cardinal, limited St. Louis to one run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts to get his fourth straight victory. He retired 15 batters in a row at one point before issuing a one-out walk in the eighth inning, and improved his major league-leading ERA to 1.96.

Chad Qualls allowed a two-out, run-scoring single to pinch-hitter Joe Thurston in the ninth but then got pinch-hitter Rick Ankiel to fly out to center to end the game and post his 17th save.

Miguel Montero had four hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs. Josh Whitesell drove in the other run for Arizona, which won for the first time in three games.

Adam Wainwright (10-6) allowed two runs on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts to take the loss for the Cardinals, who also got an RBI from Albert Pujols in their third loss in five games.
