ATLANTA, July 17 (UPI) -- Jair Jurrjens allowed only two hits Friday, Yunel Escobar drove in three runs and the Atlanta Braves had two homers in pounding the New York Mets 11-0.
The one-sided victory came on the night the Braves retired the uniform number of Greg Maddux, who won the Cy Young Award four times.
Jurrjens (8-7) went six innings and three Atlanta relievers worked a hitless inning each. New York's only hits were a leadoff double by Gary Sheffield in the second and a one-out double by David Wright in the fourth.
Escobar singled in the third of Atlanta's three runs in the first inning and contributed a two-run double during a four-run fifth.
The Braves got a solo homer from Martin Prado and a two-run blast by Brian McCann -- both coming in the third inning.
Mike Pelfrey (7-5) gave up nine of Atlanta's 14 hits and nine runs over 4 1/3 innings.
Atlanta reached the .500 mark by winning its second straight game.
