MLB: Milwaukee 9, Cincinnati 6

CINCINNATI, July 16 (UPI) -- Prince Fielder and J.J. Hardy each drove in three runs as part of a 14-hit attack Thursday that brought the Milwaukee Brewers a 9-6 win over Cincinnati.

The Brewers moved within two games of division-leading St. Louis in the National League Central.

Fielder hit a three-run homer in the third and Hardy had a two-run single during a five-run sixth. Hardy also had an RBI base hit in the seventh that gave Milwaukee a 9-3 lead.

Milwaukee starter Braden Looper (8-4) gave up three runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings to get the win. He faced Cincinnati for the fourth time this season and has a 3-1 record in those games.

Reliever Seth McClung gave up a three-run homer to Edwin Encarnacion in the eighth but Trevor Hoffman came on in the ninth and picked up his 21st save.

Homer Bailey (1-1) made his fourth start in his second major league stint of the season. He took the loss, surrendering seven runs on six hits in 5 1/3.

The Reds lost for the eighth time in 11 games.
