PRAGUE, Czech Republic, July 16 (UPI) -- Wild card Zarina Divas became an unlikely quarterfinalist at the Prague Open Thursday with an upset win over eighth-seeded Petra Kvitova.
Divas recorded a 6-4, 6-2 decision that earned her a quarterfinal meeting with third-seeded Iveta Benesova, who defeated Monica Niculescu 7-5, 6-4.
In other second-round action Thursday, Kateryna Bondarenko ousted Kristina Barrois 7-5, 7-5 and Timea Bacsinszky was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Stefanie Voegele.
Top-seeded Francesca Schiavone had already won her way into the quarterfinals and will meet Bondarenko Friday. No. 2 seed Sybille Bammer will take on Lucie Hradecka in the quarters.
