MILWAUKEE, July 16 (UPI) -- Greg Chalmers and Jeff Klauk posted 6-under 64s Thursday that left them tied for the lead after one round of the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee.
With most of the world's top players taking part in the British Open, this PGA Tour event provides a host of players a chance to break through for a critical win.
Klauk graduated to the main circuit this year thanks to his showing last season on the Nationwide Tour.
Jason Gore, Skip Kendall, Tag Ridings and Frank Lickliter were tied for third at 4-under 66.
Chalmers bogeyed his first two holes at the Brown Deer Park course and then recorded eight birdies the rest of the way. Five of those birdies came in a six-hole span.
Both Chalmers and Klauk are seeking their first tour win. Ten players have recorded their initial PGA Tour victory at this event.
