BILLINGS, Mont., July 15 (UPI) -- A Montana judge has hit former NFL running back Travis Henry with a three-year prison term for a federal cocaine trafficking conviction.
Henry was arrested last October after a multi-kilogram cocaine transaction in Centennial, Colo.
The Billings Gazette reported Wednesday that Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull sentenced him to a three years in a federal prison in Florida with five years probation.
The sentence could have been for 10 years.
Henry, 30, was released by the Denver Broncos before the 2008 season, a year after he rushed for 691 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games.
In parts of seven NFL seasons with Buffalo, Tennessee and Denver, the 2002 Pro Bowl selection scored 38 touchdowns while rushing for 6,086 yards.
He also has acknowledged fathering nine children with different mothers. A central Florida woman claimed this year that number should be 11 because Henry is the father of her 18-month-old twins.
