PRAGUE, Czech Republic, July 14 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Czech Iveta Benesova was one of three seeded winners Tuesday at the $220,000 Prague Open.
Benesova beat fellow Czech Karolina Pliskova 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3. Seventh-seeded Czech Lucie Hradecka defeated Russian qualifier Ksenia Pervak 6-3, 6-2. Eighth-seeded Czech Petra Kvitova romped past Russian Anna Lapushchenkova 6-1, 6-0.
In upsets, Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko routed her fifth-seeded sister Alona 6-1, 6-3 and Swiss qualifier Timea Bacsinszky defeated sixth-seeded Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
In other action, Croat Karolina Sprem beat German Tatjana Malek 6-3, 6-2, and Russian Alla Kudryavtseva ousted Czech Nicole Vaidisova 7-5, 6-2.
