
TAMPA, Fla., July 13 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday released veteran quarterback Brian Griese, who started strong last season before being hurt.
The Bucs also said they signed their third-round pick in this year's NFL draft, defensive tackle Roy Miller.
Griese, 34, won his first three starts and then suffered a shoulder injury in the fifth week of the season. He finished the season with 1,073 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions.
It was Griese's second stint in Tampa. He also played for Denver, Miami, and Chicago.
For his career, he has an 82.7 rating, throwing for 19,440 yards with 119 touchdowns and 99 interceptions in 93 games. He
The 6-foot-1, 310-pound Miller, signed a four-year deal. He had 49 tackles and 5 1/2 sacks last season at the University of Texas. He had 138 tackles and 10 sacks in 49 games for the Longhorns.
