SEATTLE, July 12 (UPI) -- Pinch-hitter Chris Shelton's drove in the game-winner Sunday in the Seattle Mariners' 5-3 win over the Texas Rangers.

Shelton's RBI single snapped a 3-3 tie with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Rob Johnson followed with an RBI single.

Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and one RBI, Russell Branyan and Jose Lopez drove in one run apiece, while Franklin Gutierrez and Ronny Cedeno each added two hits for the Mariners, whose 46-42 record left them just four games back of the American League West-leading LA Angels heading into the All-Star break.

The winner was reliever Miguel Batista (6-3).

Closer David Aardsma earned his 20th save.

Hank Blalock led Texas with two hits -- one a two-run sixth-inning homer. Nelson Cruz hit a solo homer, also in the sixth, and Marlon Byrd had a hit for the Rangers, who fell 1 1/2 games back of the Angels -- who beat the New York Yankees 5-4 Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

The losing pitcher was reliever Darren O'Day (2-1).
