Izturis' run-scoring single in the seventh inning proved the game-winner after New York could do no better than pull within one with Jorge Posada's eighth-inning sacrifice fly.

Howie Kendrick and Robb Quinlan also had one RBI apiece for the Angels, who won five of seven heading into the All-Star break.

Lackey (4-4) walked three batters and struck out six in 111 pitches. Closer Brian Fuentes earned his 26th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Posada led New York with two RBI. Cabrera and Derek Jeter had one RBI apiece for the Yankees, who have split their last six games.

The losing pitcher was starter CC Sabathia (8-6).
