ANAHEIM, Calif., July 11 (UPI) -- Three-run homers by Kendry Morales and Erick Aybar Friday swept the Los Angeles Angels back from a four-run deficit to a 10-6 win over the New York Yankees.
New York took a 4-0 lead through 1 ½ innings and still owned a 5-1 advantage going into the bottom of the fifth. Bobby Abreu got the Los Angeles rally going in that inning with an RBI single and then scored in front of the game-tying home run by Morales, his 15th of the season.
Chone Figgins and Abreu drove in runs in the sixth, and Aybar added his three-run blast in the seventh.
New York had a three-game winning streak snapped and fell a game behind division-leading Boston in the American League East. The Angels remained a half game behind Texas for the lead in the AL West.
Jason Bulger (4-1) got the win by pitching an inning of relief.
Mark Melancon (0-1), in his second stint of the season with the Yankees, gave up the go-ahead run on a triple by Figgins in the sixth.
After New York put two runners on with two away in the ninth, Brian Fuentes came on to strike out Jorge Posada swinging and collect his 25th save.
