BASTAD, Sweden, July 10 (UPI) -- Caroline Wozniacki qualified for her sixth tournament finals of the year with a three-set win Friday at the Swedish Open.
The Danish Wozniacki, ranked No. 9 in the world and the tournament's top seed, needed just more than 2 hours to stop third-seeded Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. She dominated the third set, winning 61 percent of all the points and breaking Pennetta's serve twice.
Saturday -- Wozniacki's 19th birthday -- will mark the sixth final of 2009 for Wozniacki, who has two tournament titles this year. She will face Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in the final. They have never before met in WTA play.
Martinez Sanchez, seeking her second WTA title, defeated Gisela Dulko in Friday's semifinals 7-5, 6-4. Martinez Sanchez won only seven more points than Dulko in the match but was able to post two more service breaks than Dulko.
