BLAINE, Minn., July 10 (UPI) -- Andy Bean used an early run of birdies Friday to grab a share of the lead with Nick Price after one round of the 3M Championship.

Bean and Price each shot a 7-under 65 over the TPC-Twin Cities course.

Price was only 1-under at the turn before getting hot on the back nine while Bean played the course in the opposite fashion. Bean birdied five out of six holes beginning at the second.

Gene Jones was alone in third place at 66 while Ronnie Black, Dan Forsman, Scott Hoch and Champions Tour leading money winner Bernhard Langer were all at 67.

Price, seventh on the money list, won his first Champions Tour event this year at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am.

Ben Crenshaw was also tied for the lead going to the final hole, but he suffered a triple-bogey at the par-5 18th to shoot a 68.
