PHILADELPHIA, July 8 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenseman Chris Pronger to a multi-year contract extension, the Cherry Hill (N.J.) Courier-Post said.
No dollar figures were disclosed by the team, but the newspaper was one of several media outlets reporting that Pronger, 34, will receive $35 million over seven years.
The second overall pick of the 1993 NHL draft by Hartford was acquired from Anaheim in June with prospect Ryan Dingle for forward Joffrey Lupul, defenseman Luca Sbisa, two first-round draft picks and a conditional third-round selection.
Last season, Pronger scored 48 points -- 11 goals, 37 assists -- for the Ducks.
In 1,022 games, he has compiled 606 points -- 142 goals and 464 assists.
He won a Stanley Cup in 2007 with Anaheim and also has played for Edmonton and St. Louis.
"I think both parties wanted to get it handled in a timely fashion in order to get things set up for future years down the line," he said in a statement.
