DENVER, July 8 (UPI) -- Clint Barmes drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly for the Colorado Rockies in their 5-4 victory over the Washington Nationals Tuesday.

Barmes had a pair of RBI in support of Alan Embree (2-2), who oddly enough picked up the win by picking off Austin Kearns in the eighth inning to retire the Nats without throwing a pitch to a batter.

Ryan Zimmerman and Josh Willingham homered for the Nationals, who outhit the Rockies 11-8 but were hampered by three errors. Julian Tavarez (3-7) took the loss in relief of starter Jordan Zimmerman, who gave up four runs in four innings.

Colorado got to Zimmerman for a run in the first inning when Barmes scored from second on a two-out single by Brad Hawpe.

Washington jumped out to a 4-1 lead on Willingham's solo homer in the second inning followed by Ryan Zimmerman's blast in the third.

The Rockies scored three runs in the fourth to tie the score 4-4. Chris Iannetta sacrificed one run in. Another scored on a fielding error by second baseman Willie Harris. Barmes followed with an RBI single.
