PHOENIX, July 7 (UPI) -- Mark Reynolds drove in the game-winning run in the ninth inning Monday in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 6-5 win over San Diego.
Arizona had tied the score in the eighth on a pinch-hit home run by Chad Tracy off Padres' reliever Luke Gregerson. San Diego closer Cla Meredith (4-2) retired the first two batters he faced in the ninth but then walked Justin Upton, who stole second and scored the game-winner on Reynolds' single to left.
Upton also had a two-run homer and finished with three RBI for the Diamondbacks, who won their third straight. Gerardo Parra and Felipe Lopez had three hits apiece and Parra drove in a run for Arizona.
Jon Garland started for the Diamondbacks, giving up three runs on eight hits in six innings.
Jon Rauch (1-0) got the victory after pitching a scoreless ninth.
Tony Gwynn Jr. and Chase Headley each had three hits and a run scored for the Padres, who lost for the fifth time in their last six games.
