DALLAS, July 6 (UPI) -- Veteran Dallas Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd will stick with the NBA club for three more years, The Dallas Morning News reported Monday.

The 36-year-old free agent reportedly had been considering moving on, with the New York Knicks said to be in contention for his services.

The Mavericks went 50-32 in Kidd's first full season with the team since being acquired from the New Jersey Nets. He averaged 9 points, 8.7 assists and 6.2 rebounds.

The Mavericks had made Kidd the second overall pick of the 1994 draft. He also has played for Phoenix. In 15 seasons, he has averaged 13.8 points, 9.2 assists and 6.7 rebounds.
