NASHVILLE, July 6 (UPI) -- The woman whose body was found near that of former NFL star Steve McNair had recently bought the gun found at the scene of the shooting, Nashville police said.

Nashville Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Don Aaron told reporters Monday investigators have determined that Sahel Kazemi, 20, purchased the weapon Thursday night, CNN reported.

An autopsy Sunday determined that McNair, 36, died early Saturday of four gunshot wounds, two to the head and two to the chest. Kazemi died of a gunshot wound to the head and investigators found a semiautomatic pistol near her body.

McNair's death has been ruled a homicide but Aaron said "the police department is not classifying Kazemi's death, pending further investigation and interviews with persons who knew her and McNair." Among those being interviewed is a former boyfriend of Kazemi's, Aaron said.

McNair, a married father of fours sons, had been seeing Kazemi for months, police said.

Aaron said there was no indication of forced entry at the condo where McNair and Kazemi were found. Neighbors told investigators a Cadillac Escalade registered to McNair and Kazemi and driven by Kazemi was in the condominium parking area when McNair arrived at the condo about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

"The presumption is she was there when he arrived," Aaron said.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL, leading the Tennessee Titans to their only Super Bowl appearance in 2000 and sharing the MVP Award with Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts in 2003. He played two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before retiring in 2008.
