NEW YORK, July 6 (UPI) -- Alex Rios hit a three-run homer Monday to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees.
John McDonald homered and Scott Rolen had a two-run double to extend his hitting streak to 23 games for Toronto, which won for the second time in its last nine games.
Ricky Romero (7-3) pitched 6 1/3 innings to win his fourth straight start. Romero stretched his scoreless streak to 34 innings before allowing three runs on seven hits with three walks.
Andy Pettitte (8-4) was the loser for New York after being charged with six runs on five hits and five walks in six-plus innings. Pettitte lost for the first time since June 13.
Eric Hinske homered in his Yankee debut. Nick Swisher was 3-for-4 with a two-run single for the Yankees, who lost for just the second time in their last 12 games.
