DETROIT, July 6 (UPI) -- Mike Jacobs homered off Detroit reliever Fernando Rodney in the ninth inning Monday to give the Kansas City Royals a 4-3 win over the Tigers.
Willie Bloomquist was 3-for-4 with a home run and a two-run triple for the Royals, who have three straight wins. Jose Guillen and Miguel Olivo each had two hits in the victory.
Joakim Soria allowed one hit but struck out two in one inning of relief to earn his 13th save.
Ryan Raburn homered and had an RBI double and Marcus Thames also homered for Detroit.
Roman Colon (1-0) got the victory.
