Tommie Harris' wife dies

HOUSTON, July 6 (UPI) -- Miguel Tejada had two doubles and two runs batted in Monday to lead the Houston Astros to a 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Mike Hampton (5-5) gave up one run on three hit and three walks in seven innings for the Astros. Jose Valverde allowed one hit and struck out the side in the ninth to earn his seventh save.
Geoff Blum tripled and drove in the other two runs for Houston.
Virgil Vasquez (1-2) gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings in the Pirates' third loss in a row and seventh in its last nine games.
Robinzon Diaz had two hits and the Pirates' lone RBI.
