NEW YORK, July 5 (UPI) -- St. Louis Cardinals' slugger Albert Pujols garnered the most votes when National League All-Star starters were announced Sunday in New York.

The veteran first baseman compiled 5,397,374 votes, the second-most in history behind Ken Griffey Jr., who had 6,079,688 votes in 1994 while playing for the Seattle Mariners.

Pujols was joined in the NL starting lineup by teammate, Yadier Molina, the catcher; Philadelphia second baseman Chase Utley; David Wright of the New York Mets at third; Florida's Hanley Ramirez at shortstop; and outfielders Ryan Braun (Milwaukee), Raul Ibanez (Philadelphia) and Carlos Beltran (Mets).

Arizona outfielder Justin Upton, 21, is one of four first-time all-stars among the National League reserves, with Colorado outfielder Brad Hawpe, Houston outfielder Hunter Pence and Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman.

San Francisco starters Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain, Arizona's Dan Haren and New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez are among the NL pitchers for the July 14 contest at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
