One of three hits by Francisco was a two-run homer with no outs in the bottom of the sixth. Sizemore had two hits, including a solo homer in the sixth, while his second RBI scored on a seventh-inning groundout.

Luis Valbuena added three hits and one RBI for the Indians, who can sweep the three-game series Sunday. They have won 11 of their last 15 against Oakland.

Winner Carl Pavano (7-7) gave up two earned runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Closer Kerry Wood followed two other relievers, earning his 10th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Oakland's runs scored on Matt Holliday's first-inning sacrifice fly and Orlando Cabrera's seventh-inning single. Cabrera had three of the eight hits for the Athletics, who have lost eight of 10.
