MLB: Los Angeles Angels 5, Baltimore 2

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 3 (UPI) -- Bobby Abreu had two home runs and four RBI and John Lackey turned in a strong start Thursday in the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 win over Baltimore.

Lackey (3-3) went eight innings, allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Chone Figgins had three hits and an RBI and Juan Rivera had two hits for the Angels, who broke a two-game losing streak that followed a six-game winning streak.

Brian Fuentes pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 23rd save, tops in the majors.

Orioles' starter Jeremy Guthrie (6-8) took the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits over seven innings with five strikeouts and two walks.

Luke Scott homered and Matt Wieters drove in a run for the Orioles, who have lost four of their last five games.

Abreu put the Angels on the board with a fourth-inning leadoff solo homer and then jacked a three-run homer in the fifth.
