PITTSBURGH, July 2 (UPI) -- Ryan Church's 10th-inning RBI single lifted the New York Mets to a 9-8 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday in a makeup game from a June 3 rainout.
Church's third hit was also his second RBI single of the game. Fernando Tatis had three hits and two RBI and scored four times, Daniel Murphy hit a fourth-inning two-run pinch single and Nick Evans had two hits and one RBI.
Jeremy Reed drove in a run, while Alex Cora had two hits for the Mets, who have won two straight following a five-game losing streak.
The winner was closer Francisco Rodriguez (2-2), the last of seven New York pitchers, despite his third blown save.
One of two hits for Adam LaRoche was a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth inning. Robinzon Diaz and Garrett Jones had three hits and two RBI apiece and Ramon Vazquez added two hits for the Pirates, who have lost four of five.
The losing pitcher was closer Matt Capps (1-4).
