
ARLINGTON, Texas, July 1 (UPI) -- Marlon Byrd drove in five runs with a pair of home runs Tuesday to power the Texas Rangers over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 9-5.
Texas also had home runs from David Murphy, Nelson Cruz and Ian Kinsler in an 11-hit attack at Rangers Ballpark.
Scott Feldman (6-2) was credited with the win for six solid innings in which he gave up three runs on six hits and struck out three.
Joe Saunders (8-5) lost for the fifth time in five starts in Arlington. He struggled through 3 2/3 innings, giving up eight runs on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts. Saunders gave up two home runs in the first inning to Kinsler and Byrd as Texas took a 3-0 lead.
Los Angeles came back to tie it with five singles in the second inning, but Cruz put the Rangers ahead 4-3 in the third on a solo home run.
The Rangers scored four in the fourth to make it 8-3. Byrd drove in three with a two-out home run that was followed up by an RBI single by Cruz.
Murphy's homer leading off the seventh made it 9-3. The Angels closed out the scoring with a pair of runs on a single by Gary Mathews coupled with an error by Byrd.
