KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 29 (UPI) -- Luke Hochevar pitched seven shutout innings and Miguel Olivo had a homer and a triple Monday to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 4-2 win over Minnesota.
Hochevar (3-3) allowed just two hits. Relief pitcher John Bale gave up a two-run homer to Minnesota first baseman Justin Morneau in the eighth and Joakim Soria struck out the side in the ninth for his 10th save.
Olivo had two RBI and scored two runs for the Royals. Alberto Callaspo and Olivo hit back-to-back home runs to start the sixth.
Nick Blackburn (6-4) gave up three runs on 10 hits over six innings to take the loss.
