Luis Fabiano scored twice to tie the score after the U.S. team had jumped out 2-0 in the first 27 minutes.

Americans Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan had put the five-time World Cup winners in the two-goal hole but Fabiano scored just seconds into the second half and got his second at the 74th minute.

The victory was the Brazilians' second straight Confederations Cup title, and third overall.

The United States, playing in its first FIFA final, came into the tournament unbeaten in 96 straight matches when leading at the half since 1993. The Americans reached the final in Johannesburg, South Africa, by upsetting world No. 1 Spain 2-0 in the semifinals.

Shin wins Wegmans LPGA title

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 28 (UPI) -- Jiyai Shin shot a 1-under 71 Sunday to win the Wegmans LPGA by seven shots and capture her fifth title after just 11 months on the women's tour.

Shin, a 21-year-old rookie sensation from Korea, took the lead in Friday's second round and never relinquished it. She birdied the first hole and cruised to the title on a somewhat rainy day at Locust Hill Country Club.

Kristy McPherson and Yani Tseng each shot 66 to tie for second at 10-under 278. Haeji Kang (71), Mika Miyazato (71) and Stacy Lewis (74) shared fourth place at 9-under 279.

Morgan Pressel had started the final round four shots behind Shin, but shot a 78 and finished 11 behind at six-under-282.

Shin seemed tense when she teed off but settled down after starting her round with the birdie.

"That birdie changed my feeling," she said. "I got my confidence back."

Shin had a bogey on the par-3 seventh after teeing off into the rough. She birdied the 10th hole but then had back-to-back bogeys at 13 and 14.

Perry finished 72 holes with a record-setting total of 22-under 258, beating the previous low of 259 set by Tim Norris in 1982.

"With so many people so close, I knew it was going to be something special today to win this golf tournament," the 48-year-old Elizabethtown, Ky., native said after winning his 11th tournament title since turning 40. "My goal was to birdie every hole out there. That was my mind set and I wasn't changing from that."

Third-round leader Paul Goydos (67) and David Toms (65) finished 19-under 261 to share second place.

"(Perry) just didn't make any mistakes," said Goydos, who began the round with a one-shot lead over Perry.

Ryan Moore and Hunter Mahan both shot 6-under 64 Sunday and, at 17-under 263, shared fourth place with Ben Curtis (65).

Logano wins Sunday's Sprint Cup race

LOUDON, N.H., June 28 (UPI) -- Rookie Joey Logano won Sunday's rain-shortened Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at Loudon, N.H., becoming the youngest driver ever to win a Sprint Cup race.

The 19-year-old native of nearby Middletown, Conn., was the only driver not to pit during a round of green-flag stops and was declared the winner when rain forced NASCAR officials to end the race at the New Hampshire International Speedway with 28 laps remaining in the scheduled 301-lap event.

Logano had just overtaken Ryan Newman, who ran out of fuel and coasted into pit road.

Jeff Gordon (Chevrolet), Kurt Busch (Dodge), David Reutimann (Toyota) and Tony Stewart (Chevrolet) completed the top five finishers.

The race was marred by a temper-filled eight-car crash on Lap 175 involving -- among others -- Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. -- who seemed to blame Busch for the incident.

"I don't know what Kyle was thinking out there," Truex told The Charlotte Observer.

Stewart (2,524) holds a 69-point lead over Gordon (2,455) in the latest Sprint Cup standings.
