ST. LOUIS, June 27 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols hit a pair of two-run homers Saturday, lifting the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-3 inter-league victory over the Minnesota Twins.
The slugger, having his most productive season, raised his major league-leading totals to 28 homers and 74 RBI.
Saturday, he hit home runs with one out in the bottom of the first inning and with two outs in the third.
Tyler Greene drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the third, while Skip Schumaker had two runs and three hits for the Cardinals, who broke their three-game losing streak.
The winner was reliever Josh Kinney (1-0). Closer Ryan Franklin earned his 18th save.
Minnesota's Brendan Harris had two hits -- one a three-run, second-inning single.
Four others had one hit for the Twins, who had won three of four.
Losing pitcher Kevin Slowey (10-3), trying for a major league-leading 11th win, yielded five earned runs and six hits in three innings, his shortest outing this season.
