PITTSBURGH, June 27 (UPI) -- Delwyn Young hit a key three-run homer Saturday, leading the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-2 inter-league win over the Kansas City Royals.

Young had two hits and four RBI, and his homer erased a 2-0 deficit with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Jack Wilson and Adam LaRoche both had two hits and one RBI, while Nyjer Morgan and Freddy Sanchez added two hits apiece for the Pirates, who can complete a three-game sweep by winning the series finale Sunday.

Winner Paul Maholm (5-4) gave up two earned runs and five hits in seven innings before a mop-up by relievers John Grabow and Jeff Karstens.

Billy Butler led Kansas City with two RBI singles. Willie Bloomquist had two runs and two hits for the Royals, who have lost three in a row and four of six.

Losing pitcher Bruce Chen (0-1), making his first start this season, surrendered four earned runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.
