MLB: Chi. Cubs 5, Chi. White Sox 4

CHICAGO, June 26 (UPI) -- Geovany Soto's three-run eighth-inning homer Friday boosted the Chicago Cubs to a 5-4 interleague win over the Chicago White Sox.

The homer, Soto's seventh, snapped a 2-2 tie and capped a three-run rally, giving the Cubs a 5-2 lead with one out in the top of the seventh.

He had two of the Cubs' eight hits.

Jake Fox had three hits -- one a two-out, two-run fourth-inning homer for the Cubs, who broke their four-game losing streak.

Winner Randy Wells (2-3) yielded two earned runs and five hits in seven innings with two walks and six strikeouts.

Closer Kevin Gregg recorded his 12th save.

Jim Thome led the White Sox with a solo fourth-inning homer and a two-run eighth-inning double.

Jermaine Dye had two hits and one RBI, while Scott Podsednik added two hits for the White Sox, who had won two in a row.

The losing pitcher was starter Jose Contreras (2-7).
