BALTIMORE, June 26 (UPI) -- Melvin Mora drove in runs in two different at bats during an eight-run sixth inning Friday that allowed the Baltimore Orioles to coast past Washington 11-1.
The Orioles were clinging to a two-run lead before sending a dozen men to the plate in the sixth. They produced seven of their 16 hits in the inning, including Mora's two-run double and Aubrey Huff's two-run single.
Mora finished off the outburst by driving in his third run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. Huff also had a sacrifice fly in the first. The 16 hits equaled Baltimore's season high.
Brad Bergesen (5-2) got the win by allowing a run on four hits and striking out five over six innings. Bergesen is 4-0 in his last seven starts.
Ross Detwiler (0-4) was roughed up for five runs on nine hits in five-plus innings.
