MLB: Cincinnati 7, Toronto 5

TORONTO, June 25 (UPI) -- Joey Votto put Cincinnati in front with a seventh-inning homer Thursday, helping the Reds avoid a series sweep with a 7-5 win over Toronto.

The Reds let a 5-1 lead get away before Votto put his team back ahead with his third RBI of the game. He doubled home a run in the first and singled in another in the second.

Toronto had won its previous three games and Cincinnati had lost four straight.

Johnny Cueto (7-4) survived long enough to benefit from Votto's solo homer. Cueto gave up five runs on five hits over six innings.

The home run by Votto came off Shawn Camp (0-3), who put in a four-inning relief stint after starter Brett Cecil allowed five runs on nine hits in three innings.

After the Reds built a 5-1 lead through four, Toronto tied it with a four-run fifth that included a two-run double by Vernon Wells and a two-run single from Scott Rolen.

Willy Tavares gave Cincinnati an insurance run in the eighth by putting down a squeeze bunt.

Francisco Cordero worked the ninth for his 18th save.
