CHICAGO, June 25 (UPI) -- Scott Podsednik delivered a bases-loaded, two-out single in the 13th inning Thursday, lifting the Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Chicago overcame an early four-run deficit for its second straight victory over the Dodgers.
Jeff Weaver (4-2) came out for his third inning of relief in the 13th and gave up singles to both Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski. After Chris Getz was intentionally walked to load the bases Josh Fields and Dewayne Wise flew out to center without being able to bring home the winning run.
Given a chance to escape the inning, Weaver gave up Podsednik's single to center on a 2-2 pitch that delivered pinch-runner Gordon Beckham.
Konerko also had a solo home run in the fifth and Pierzynski had a three-run blast in the sixth.
The win went to Aaron Poreda (1-0), the first of his major league career. Poreda struck out two while working the top of the 13th.
Orlando Hudson had a pair of RBI singles and Mark Loretta drove in two runs with a double for the Dodgers.
