GREEN BAY, Wis., June 24 (UPI) -- The Green Bay Packers signed wide receiver Greg Jennings to a "long-term" contract extension Wednesday, sources told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
No terms were announced, but undisclosed sources told the newspaper the deal added three years to his contract, which was to expire after the 2009 season. He becomes Green Bay's second-highest paid player behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers ($10.83 million annually).
Jennings, 25, a Pro Bowl alternate last season, scored nine touchdowns in 2008 after establishing career-highs with 80 receptions and 1,292 yards.
"I'm grateful and I understand that I'm blessed," Jennings said. "Just to know I'm going to have that financial stability for not only myself but for my family, my children, it's an exciting feeling. It really hasn't hit me yet. I'm sure it will sink in sometime soon."
In three NFL seasons after leaving Western Michigan University, Jennings has scored 24 touchdowns with 178 receptions for 2,844 yards in 43 games.
