SOMERVILLE, N.J., June 22 (UPI) -- Former NBA star Jayson Williams will not have his bail revoked, a New Jersey judge ruled Monday.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office had asked Superior Court Judge Edward Coleman to revoke Williams' bail and sentence him immediately for charges relating to the 2002 death of limousine driver Costas Christofi at Williams' then-home in New Jersey.

They said Williams' behavior had become erratic and dangerous after being arrested for assault in North Carolina and engaging in an altercation with police in a New York City hotel room in which he was subdued with a stun gun, the New Brunswick (N.J.) Home News Tribune reported.

Coleman Monday rejected those arguments, saying "it would not make sense" to sentence Williams now that he is facing a retrial on a reckless manslaughter charge, the newspaper said.

Coleman said jury selection in Williams' retrial would start in December, with trial beginning in January 2010, the Home News Tribune reported.
