SEATTLE, June 21 (UPI) -- Ronny Cedeno scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday on a fielding error by veteran Tony Clark in Seattle's 3-2 win over Arizona.
Cedeno raced home from third with two outs when the Diamndbacks' first baseman was handcuffed by Mark Reynolds' throw on what should have been a routine ground out to end the inning.
Seattle's rally gave the inter-league win to Mark Lowe (1-4), who pitched a scoreless ninth. Felix Hernandez did most of the heavy lifting with a 7 1/3-inning start that included two runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.
Clay Zavada (1-1) took the loss after presiding over a ninth inning that included a 12-pitch at-bat by Ichiro Suzuki, who went 3-for-4 Sunday but grounded out in his final plate appearance.
The Mariners took a 1-0 in the fourth on an RBI single by Yuniesky Betancourt, but Arizona went ahead 2-1 on Reynolds' two-run homer in the top of the eighth.
Seattle tied the score 2-2 when Franklin Gutierrez grounded out with Mike Carp on third.
