SAN DIEGO, June 21 (UPI) -- Kevan Correia and Heath Bell combined on a two-hitter Sunday, boosting the San Diego Padres past visiting Oakland 4-1.
Bell picked up his 19th save in relief of Correia (4-5), who got the inter-league win by limiting the Athletics to one run on two hits, a walk and seven strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings.
Correia, who also had help from Mike Adams and Edward Mujica, set down the first 14 Oakland batters before giving up a two-out double to Orlando Cabrera in the fifth inning.
Dallas Braden (5-6) took the loss for the Athletics after giving up two runs on six hits in seven innings.
Henry Blanco and Kevin Kouzmanoff homered for the Padres. David Eckstein had three hits.
The Padres opened the scoring in the second inning when Kyle Banks walked and then came home on Edgar Gonzalez's double.
Blanco made it 2-0 with a lead-off home run in the fifth. The Athletics came back with their lone run in the seventh on an RBI double by Mike Sweeney.
San Diego closed out the scoring an inning later when Tony Gwynn singled and came home on Kouzmanoff's two-run homer off Russ Springer.
