EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., June 20 (UPI) -- Fredy Montero scored in the 48th minute Saturday, helping the Seattle Sounders play to a 1-1 Major League Soccer tie with New York.

Despite the victory, the expansion Sounders (5-3-7) are 1-2-4 on the road and have scored a total of six goals in their last three games.

Montero's goal, his third in three games, gave him a team-high 11 this season.

Colombia native Juan Pablo Angel scored in the 40th minute for the Red Bulls (2-10-5), whose winless streak rose to six games in a row.

With San Jose's 2-1 win over Los Angeles earlier Saturday, the Red Bulls, with nine, have the fewest points in the league -- after a 2008 season in which they played in the MLS Cup match, losing 3-1 to Columbus.
