DETROIT, June 20 (UPI) -- Marcus Thames hit two of Detroit's four homers Friday, both of them two-run shots, powering the Tigers past Milwaukee 10-4 in a game shortened by rain.
The contest was halted with one out in the bottom of the seventh after Thames had hit his second homer of the night. He also produced a blast in the first inning and Detroit got a solo shot from Miguel Cabrera in the third and a two-run homer from Curtis Granderson as part of a four-run fourth.
Armando Galarraga gave up four runs in four innings before the game went through its first rain delay of more than two hours. Zach Miner (4-1) came on after the delay and got the win by working 2 1/3 innings.
Prince Fielder hit a three-run home run and Craig Counsell drove in the other run for the Brewers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Braden Looper (5-4) was touched for seven runs on eight hits in 3 2/3.
