LUMBRES, France, June 19 (UPI) -- Wade Ormsby overcame blustery winds to fire a 6-under 65 Friday and take a one-shot lead midway through the Saint-Omer Open.

Ormsby put together the lowest round of the day in the European Tour event while looking for his first victory on the circuit. He finished 36 holes at 7-under 135.

James Morrison recorded a 69 and was alone in second at 136 while Christian Nilsson was third at 137 following a 69.

Fredrik Andersson Hed, the first-round leader, stumbled to a 72 and was fourth at 138. Tony Carolan (73), Andrew Tampion (70) and Adam Gee (69) shared fifth place at 139.

Most of Europe's top players are competing this week at the U.S. Open.
