Razzano posts another Aegon upset

EASTBOURNE, England, June 18 (UPI) -- Defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska was defeated Thursday in quarterfinal action of the $600,000 Aegon International tennis tournament in England.

Radwanska, seeded eighth, fell to Virginie Razzano, who backed up her Wednesday upset of top-seeded Elena Dementieva with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Radwanska.

Razzano was able to post four service breaks and had a clear advantage on her first serve in getting to the Ordina semifinals.

She next faces Marion Bartoli, who took out Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-1, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

The other Ordina semifinal Friday sends Carolina Wozniacki, who is one win away from her fifth finals appearance of the year, against Aleksandra Wozniak. Wozniacki defeated Ekaterina Makarova 6-3, 6-2 while Wozniak routed Vera Dushevina 6-1, 6-0 in 45 minutes. Wozniak took three-quarters of the points in her match.
