EASTBOURNE, England, June 17 (UPI) -- No. 2-seeded Dmitry Tursunov was forced to a third-set tiebreaker Wednesday before he made it out of the second round of the Aegon International in London.

Tursunov, one of the few seeded players left in the draw after a week of upsets, barely got by qualifier Alex Bogdanovic 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in a match that took 2 1/2 hours.

The evenness of the match was shown by each player winning 44 points in the third set. Tursunov was backed into eighth break-point situations but allowed Bogdanovic to finish off only one.

He goes against Denis Istomin in Thursday's quarterfinals. Istomin ousted sixth-seeded Sam Querrey 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in his match Wednesday.

Frank Dancevic beat James Ward 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 and Leonardo Mayer took out Julien Benneteau 6-4, 6-4 in other second-round matches.

In addition to the Tursunov-Istomin pairing, the quarterfinals have Fabrice Santoro playing Ivan Ljubicic, No. 8-seeded Guillermo Garcia-Lopez meeting Janko Tipsarevic and Dancevic going against Mayer.
