TORONTO, June 17 (UPI) -- The Toronto Blue Jays decided Wednesday to put ace right hander Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin.
Halladay (10-1) is baseball's winningest pitcher to date.
The 2003 American League Cy Young winner and five-time AL all-star sustained the injury in the fourth inning of his previous start last Friday against the Florida Marlins and experienced discomfort in the groin during a bullpen session on Wednesday.
"I feel a lot better," he said on the team's Web site. "It's just that I feel a little bit of tightness."
He had thrown at least seven innings in each of his previous 13 starts this season before his last outing and is eligible to be activated by June 28.
Halladay joined fellow pitcher Scott Downs (sprained big left toe) on the disabled list.
