TORONTO, June 17 (UPI) -- The Toronto Blue Jays have placed right hander Casey Janssen on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his surgically repaired throwing shoulder.

The move is retroactive to June 14.

The team recalled southpaw Brad Mills to replace Janssen to make his major league debut Thursday at Philadelphia.

Janssen missed the entire 2008 season while rehabbing a torn labrum that required surgery.

To date this season, he is 2-3 with a 6.23 ERA in five starts (26 innings).

He is the latest Toronto pitcher sidelined because of injury, including starter Roy Halladay (strained right groin), closer Scott Downs (left foot) and starter Jesse Litsch (season-ending right elbow Tommy John ligament-replacement surgery).

Also this season, right handers Shaun Marcum (right elbow) and Dustin McGowan (right shoulder) were sidelined, but could return before it ends.

Mills, 24, a fourth-round pick in the 2007 amateur draft, was 1-8 in 13 starts for the Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League.
