CINCINNATI, June 17 (UPI) -- Laynce Nix had three hits and three RBI for the Cincinnati Reds in Tuesday's 7-2 rain-delayed victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Two of Nix's RBI came as the Reds scored four times in the bottom of the eighth inning to blow open the contest, which was delayed twice for nearly an hour and a half in the third inning.
Daniel Ray Herrera (1-2) picked up the win with three scoreless innings in relief of Aaron Harang. Jair Jurrjens (5-5) took the loss with a run on two hits in two innings.
Nix drove in a run with a ground out in the first inning and then made it 2-0 with a double in the third after the second rain delay in the third.
After the Reds took a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning on Ramon Hernandez's ground out, Atlanta got on the board in the sixth with three consecutive singles, including an RBI rap by Garret Anderson.
The Braves made it 3-2 in the eighth on a two-out RBI single by Jeff Fancoeur.
Cincinnati put the game away in their half of the eighth with four runs off Mike Gonzalez. After loading the bases, the Reds picked up a run on a single by Willy Taveras, two more on a double by Alex Gonzalez and another pair on Nix's double.
