Ferrer among second-round Ordina winners

'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, June 17 (UPI) -- Defending champion David Ferrer used a strong service game Wednesday in advancing to the quarterfinals of the Ordina Open in the Netherlands.

Ferrer, seeded third, had five aces and no double faults in winning 72 percent of the points on serve en route to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Oscar Hernandez. He faced just two break points in the match.

Fourth-seeded Rainer Schuettler was a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) winner over Thiemo De Bakker in his second-round match while No. 7-seeded Jeremy Chardy defeated Dick Norman 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Also, Raemon Sluiter advanced when Marco Baghdatis retired with Sluiter ahead 4-3 in the first set.

Thursday's quarterfinal schedule has Ferrer meeting Ivan Navarro, Schuettler playing Chardy, Benjamin Becker facing Michael Llodra and Dudi Sela going against Sluiter.
