BOSTON, June 16 (UPI) -- David Ortiz had a homer and three RBI Tuesday, fueling the Boston Red Sox' 8-2 inter-league victory over the Florida Marlins.

Jason Bay and Nick Green each had two RBI for the Red Sox, who ran off seven consecutive runs to break an early tie and post their sixth win in their last seven games.

Boston starter Tim Wakefield (9-3) gave up two runs and six hits in six innings.

Chris Coghlan had two RBI, and Emilio Bonifacio and Jorge Cantu each had two hits for the Marlins. Losing pitcher Chris Volstad (4-7) lasted only 3 2/3 innings after allowing eight runs and nine hits.
