LONDON, June 15 (UPI) -- Andy Murray's win at the Queen's Club in London pulled him within sight of the world No. 2 men's tennis ranking.
Murray is ranked third following his 7-5, 6-4, victory Sunday over James Blake in the title match of the Aegon Championships. It was his fourth title of the year and pushed him over the $2 million mark in winnings in 2009.
It also put Murray in position to move to No. 2 in the world, should things fall his way at the Wimbledon Championships, which begin June 22. He could knock Roger Federer, who's been either No. 1 or 2 every week since Nov. 10, 2003, from the No. 2 ranking.
However, if things go Federer's way, he could retake the No. 1 spot from Rafael Nadal.
While Wimbledon may provide changes in the top of the rankings, the grass-court tune-ups before the draw is announced didn't. Nadal is No. 1 followed by Federer and Murray.
Novak Djokovic, runner-up at a tournament in Germany, is fourth followed by No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro and sixth-ranked Andy Roddick. Gilles Simon is ranked seventh with, in order, Fernando Verdasco, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Fernando Gonzalez completing the Top 10.
